The Galen Apartments at 1626 SW 14th St takes its name from Claudius Galen — the ancient Greek physician whose discoveries in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and neurology dominated Western medicine for over 1,300 years. As physician to Roman emperors and the first to systematically study the human body through dissection and experimentation, Galen helped lay the intellectual foundation upon which modern medicine was eventually built.
